Symposium

We believe that educators are at the heart of our shared responsibility to shape a better future for our young people, our communities and our planet.

With you, we are creating regenerative spaces for educators who share this belief.

The MSB Symposium is a space where you are invited to reimagine the possibilities for your being, thinking and doing in service of your purpose as a leader in education.

What is Symposium?

Symposium is a series of rich online learning experiences for educators who value alternative and refreshing perspectives.

We bring world-class speakers to your laptop every month to create highly engaging and thought-provoking interactions. We invite you to continue your learning and reflections in our network with the speakers and each other.

Your collective learning is brought together under three simple themes:
being, thinking and doing.

Being

By befriending your inner world and expanding your self-awareness, you choose to be centred in your most resourceful self, even under pressure.

Thinking

Be inspired to think differently and challenge the assumptions and beliefs that have served you until now.

Doing

Take skilful action from the foundations of your most resourceful self and best thinking.

Who's it for?

Meet Your Facilitators

Here are just a few of the symposiums you can look forward to, and the facilitators you’ll meet.

Being: Wild leadership and outdoor intelligence
with
Fi Macmillan
Why Fi?

Fi has developed a philosophy of ‘outdoor intelligence’ and how it serves leaders to spend time outdoors. Through guiding people to cultivate connection to the primary eco-system we all belong to, she has witnessed leaders finding a deeper sense of stillness, presence and spaciousness in their being.

What will you learn?

An experience of a deeper connection to and between the natural world and your inner world.

What difference will this make for you?

From one of the leaders Fi has served: ‘Your ability to create a huge sense of space from which I can think, dream, process and plan is extraordinary.’

Thinking: What does it mean to belong?
with

Charmaine Roche

Why Charmaine?

Charmaine is a former head-teacher who describes herself as a ‘compassionate disruptor.’ She works at a systemic level, lifting up the invisible dynamics that unconsciously drive behaviour within teams; one of which, is our need to belong.

What will you learn?

You will learn what is meant by belonging and how it drives our behaviour. You will learn how it’s possible to move towards greater consciousness of the factors that shape your teams and organisation.

What difference will this make for you?

You will have a new perspective on the forces that underpin team dynamics. You will consider how you can use this perspective to take skilful action that releases stuckness and restores flow.

Doing: Leading inclusion for disabled people
with

Liz Wright

Why Liz?

Liz was born with limb difference. This means that she is missing half her right arm and leg, but it also means she stole her brother’s skateboard without repercussions, won a woodwork prize at school for her elite sanding skills and swam at two Paralympic Games winning a silver and two bronze medals.

What will you learn?

You will gain an expanded view of what disability is, an open discussion about inclusive leadership, which includes developing open and emotionally aware conversations, greater self awareness, and problem solving skills.

What difference will this make for you?

You will feel more confident to be an informed ally and take action on behalf of the disabled community in your school and beyond.
